Subliminal Message?

Ever since Golden Boy Promotions took ownership of Ring Magazine on several occasions they have felt the need to release a statement suggesting that there is no conflict of interest.

They repeatedly stated that the journalism will remain impartial, and the editor chooses what goes in the magazine and how it is presented.

Many have implied otherwise.

As print media is going through a costly transitional period, the powers that be at GBP decided it was time to start using their magazine to get their message across.

Ring Magazine is still enjoyable but you cannot help thinking that it was more than suggested to the magazine editor to position the GBP promoted Saul Alvarez and Josesito Lopez fight above rival Top-Rank Promotion’s Sergio Martinez and Julio Caesar Chavez Jr. contest.

It was quite clear which fight the public preferred, and given that the large majority of major boxing writers chose to attend the Martinez/Chavez Jr. fight, it appears as though GBP were putting personal interests ahead of reality.
