Light-Heavyweights
Nathan Cleverly v Tony Bellew is the only light-heavyweight fight that I want to see.
Chad Dawson against either of those would be interesting, but only to see how Cleverly or Bellew would fare. Dawson seems like a good guy and he’s very talented, but it would be the performance of Cleverly or Bellew that i’d tune in for.
Hopkins? I could care less if he ever fights again. There is no questioning his accomplishments and his ring generalship, but he has been the most boring fighter for longer then I can remember.
Any combination of Hopkins, Dawson, Tavoris Cloud, or any other recognised light-heavyweight would have me running away from the television.
Bellew v Cleverly 1 was a really entertaining fight. Close and competitive, a natural trilogy was the logical outcome, all fought with a world title at stake.
But then Bellew fell out with his now ex-promoter Frank Warren, and decided to pack his bags and head for Matchroom Boxing.
Matchroom Boxing v Frank Warren Promotions. BoxNation v Sky Sports Boxing.
There will be no more Cleverly v Bellew fights. Again, the sport, it’s fans and the two fighters lose. Neither will find as big of a payday elsewhere.
